"There are friendships that have been forged by dedication and by pain. By defeat and by accomplishment. By mind and by sweat. By laughter and by tears. Friends that have seen each other when we look our worst and when we look our best. When we feel like we could collapse and when we've won our biggest victory. Friends who encourage us when we want to stop, but stick with us when we are about to fall. And run beside us not just in races, but everyday. These are the types of friendships that don't fade with time and don't dwindle with distance. These are running buddies." ~Ellen Gass

Read what our members are saying about their experience with Team Athena.

For me, running has always been about community, it is wher I have made my closest friends for the last fifteen years. There is something so pure and true about a relationship formed while working hard side-by-side with someone, all pretense stripped away by miles and sweat. You see one another at both vulnerable and triumphant moments. Being there to support or sympathize makes those moments of celebration that much sweeter. TA is more than my running community, it is a group of dear friends who continually challenge me to be better. Better at running, better in friendships, better at life.
— Laura Devine

Simply put, running makes me feel good about myself. It’s about self-love and creating a positive relationship with myself, something that isn’t always encouraged for women. My friends and teammates keep me motivated.
— Hillary Reed

Team Athena has changed my life, both athletically and socially. Many of the team members are some of the strongest runners I have ever been around and are now some of my dearest friends. The support from the team and our coach have carried me through many personal bests and many extremely challenging workouts and races. I wouldn’t be where I am with my running or life without these women.
— Marianne Falk

This team really is a great example of unconditional support. Good race, bad race. Good workout, bad workout. It doesn’t matter. We believe in doing the best we can to reach our individual potential. The runners on this team are incredibly talented and I am blessed and honored to be a part of it. They make me want to be better at everything I do. On and off the track. The girls have truly become my closest friends and I love that I get to combine friends and running-it’s like fitness candy.
— Marni Renison
Team Athena has been so much more than helping me get faster. I have built amazing and sincere friendships with the other women on the team.
— Jenni Bertapelle
Good better best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better. And your better is BEST!
Life is precious... everyday is a gift and should never be taken for granted. I am blessed that I have my health and am able to run, when I know some do not have that choice. I use my passion for running to help others through charity. Running for more than myself is POWERFUL! Team Athena has taken my running to the next level. The support, motivation and team camaraderie are REAL! The friendships that form are everlasting!
LAUGH too much..LOVE too much...BE in the moment, because the littlest moments become forever precious memories.
— Michelle Watson

Track night is magical. It demands that you put aside the work stress, the family obligations and all the internal guessing for one goal. To push yourself further than you thought possible. And when you do that in the company of such amazing women, you can’t help but come away a better person.
— Lindsay Jackson
Running with Team Athena is one of the best things I have done for myself this Summer and Fall. Tuesday night track, weekend long runs, races and other events are all available. Check us out if pushing yourself in a super supportive and friendly environment sounds like what you want to take your running practice to the next level (all levels welcome!!). I seriously am so proud of all of us on Tuesday nights. The runner’s high is real!

Since joining Team Athena, I haven’t looked back, as running and fitness have become an increasingly larger part of my life. I love being a part of Team Athena, both because of the friendships I have built and running accomplishments I have experienced.
